Mac and Cheese Recipe: Creamy Comfort Food Classic

Ingredients
  

  • 12 oz elbow macaroni
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • cups whole milk, warmed
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp mustard powder (optional)
  • ¼ tsp paprika (optional)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs (optional)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter

Instructions
 

  • Cook macaroni until al dente; drain
  • Melt butter in a saucepan; whisk in flour for 1-2 minutes
  • Gradually add warm milk; cook until thickened
  • Stir in cheddar, mozzarella, salt, pepper, and optional spices
  • Combine with macaroni; transfer to a baking dish if baking
  • Top with panko, Parmesan, and melted butter; bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes

Notes

  • Use fresh cheese for the best melt
  • Warm milk to avoid lumps
  • Store in fridge for 4 days or freeze for 2 months
  • Serve with salad or veggies
