Banana Pudding Recipe: Creamy Southern Classic

- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ tsp salt
- 2 cups whole milk
- 3 large egg yolks
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 ripe bananas sliced
- 11 oz vanilla wafers
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- Optional: ½ tsp banana extract
Cook sugar, flour, salt, milk; add yolks, cook until thick; stir in butter, vanilla
Layer wafers, bananas, custard in dish; repeat twice
Chill 4+ hours
Whip cream with sugar; spread over the pudding
Garnish with wafers; serve cold
