Banana Bread Recipe: A Classic Comfort Treat

Ingredients
  

  • 4 ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 ½ cups)
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt or sour cream
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  • Mash bananas in a large bowl. Stir in melted butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and yogurt.
  • In another bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Combine wet and dry ingredients, stirring until just blended. Fold in mix-ins, if using.
  • Pour batter into pan and bake for 55-65 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a rack.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor.
  • Don’t overmix batter to keep bread light.
  • Add cinnamon or nuts for extra flavor.
  • Store at room temperature for 3 days or freeze for 3 months.
