Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe: A Sweet Classic

Ingredients
  

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  • Cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  • Beat in eggs and vanilla.
  • Gradually mix in dry ingredients until just combined.
  • Fold in chocolate chips and optional nuts.
  • Scoop tablespoon-sized dough balls onto baking sheets, 2 inches apart.
  • Bake 9-11 minutes until edges are golden. Cool 5 minutes on sheets, then transfer to a rack.

Notes

  • Use softened butter for the best texture.
  • Chill dough for 30 minutes for thicker cookies.
  • Don’t overbake for soft centers.
  • Store in airtight container for 5 days or freeze for 3 months.
